ALYSSA (VOICEOVER): Yennefer tracks down Francesca, who has broken from Nilfgaard after the deaths of her husband and child. When the elven queen refuses to join her cause, Yennefer turns her into a jade figurine and returns to Montecalvo. There she's joined by sorceresses from across the Continent, including Triss, Philippa, Assire, Sabrina, Margarita, Ximei, Iman, and Fringilla, who is spying on Yennefer's behalf. Yennefer urges them to fight against Vilgefortz and they agree once they learn the truth about Ciri's Elder Blood. Unable to determine his whereabouts, they plan to draw Vilgefortz to them at Montecalvo.
Elsewhere, Ciri is still running with the Rats under the name Falka. They rob the Baron of Casadei's daughter. At a local fair, Kayleigh warns Mistle that Falka is not who she claims to be. Ciri grows suspicious after spotting Kayleigh and Giselher speaking with a stranger. Later, Casadei's men attempt to attack Ciri, but she kills all three without warning, unsettling Mistle.
Geralt's growing company stops at a refugee camp, where they reunite with Yarpen Zigrin. A fanatical priest at the camp accuses their young companion's sister of being a witch. The priest orders both sisters to be burned at the stake, but Geralt intervenes to claim a trial by combat. Instead, the priest demands a trial by ordeal, and their innocence is proven when Regis grasps a burning horseshoe, unharmed. Nilfgaardian soldiers suddenly attack the camp, killing many, including the young girl, while Geralt is knocked unconscious.
In Nilfgaard, Emhyr confronts Vilgefortz over the false Ciri. The emperor angrily declares that his daughter will bear his heir, fulfilling Ithlinne's Prophecy. Skellen suggests that announcing an engagement to the false Ciri will weaken the Northern front. The Nilfgaardian spymaster, secretly conspiring against Emhyr, is tasked with finding the true Ciri. Skellen recruits Leo Bonhart, a brutal bounty hunter, to track down Falka and the Rats.
