ALYSSA (VOICEOVER): The company arrives at Fen Carn, an elven graveyard, where two men try to commandeer Milva's horse. She breaks one of their noses. Scouting the graveyard, Jaskier accidentally summons a wraith when he reads an incantation off a grave marker. Geralt fights the creature while Milva and Zoltan pull the bard to safety. In the aftermath, a stranger emerges from the graveyard: Emiel Regis, who presents himself as a barber-surgeon. He invites the company to his cottage, tends Geralt's injuries, and offers them moonshine.

Elsewhere, Ciri earns her place among the Rats by shadowing a heist against the local tax collector. When their plan goes awry, Ciri gets them out alive using her combat skills and quick thinking. But in doing so, she sacrifices all their stolen coin as a distraction. The Rats criticize her for the loss, but the gang wakes to find the villagers waiting with gratitude. In return for overthrowing the tax collector and returning their coin, the villagers smuggle the Rats out of town. The gang initiates Ciri with the blood oath. She is a Rat.

Back at the cottage, Jaskier reveals their plans to Regis, causing Geralt to leave drunk and angry. The witcher dreams of a quiet life with Yennefer and Ciri. In the morning, Geralt tells Regis they have traveled fifty leagues in forty days, with two hundred still ahead. Regis offers to join the company.

In Nilfgaard, Emhyr hands Teryn a sword. Her lack of witcher training gives her away as a fake Ciri. He dispatches Skellen to find both Vilgefortz and the real Ciri.

Yennefer seeks allies and leverage in the north. She visits Philippa, then Fringilla, giving the exiled sorceress a dimiterium dagger to help locate Vilgefortz. Instead, Fringilla delivers the dagger to Vilgefortz with a pledge of her allegiance. Vilgefortz, disguised as Yennefer, encourages Istredd to research the connection between Ciri and the monoliths. The real Yennefer fights off three of Vilgefortz's mages and is saved by Philippa, on their way to find Francesca Findabair.

Geralt’s company rides out of Fen Carn with Regis in tow. His last act before leaving: he lifts a kerchief and smells Geralt’s blood.
