ALYSSA (VOICEOVER): After Nilfgaard's attack on the refugee camp, an enraged Cintran marshal captures Geralt and Jaskier, taking them to a Redanian outpost for execution. Dijkstra intervenes, but beats the witcher in retaliation for Thanedd. Jaskier is brought before Radovid, but the bard rejects the king a second time. Heartbroken, Radovid imprisons Jaskier and banishes Dijkstra. Later, Regis suddenly appears to save Geralt and Jaskier. Geralt sends the barber-surgeon away, revealing to Jaskier that Regis is a vampire. Just as the rest of the company arrives to rescue Geralt and Jaskier, Nilfgaard attacks. In the melee, Geralt confronts Cahir, and Jaskier is gravely injured.
At Montecalvo, the sorceresses ask Yennefer to reconsider the plan to draw Vilgefortz to the stronghold. Yennefer asks Margarita to allow the novices into the fight. Triss arrives with the witchers Vesemir, Coen, and Lambert, who train the sorceresses in combat and plan the castle’s defense. Vesemir tells Yennefer he intends to face Vilgefortz alone.
Unknowingly trapped in Vilgefortz’s hideout, Istredd discovers Ciri's bloodline can collapse space and time. With this knowledge, Vilgefortz finally reveals himself to Istredd. When Fringilla discovers the deception, Vilgefortz imprisons them both.
Elsewhere, the Rats learn Bonhart is on their trail. The bounty hunter finds the men Ciri killed at the tattoo parlor, deducing from the pattern of the kills that Falka must be well-trained. Ciri and Mistle are attacked by a greylock carrying a parasite. Ciri saves the creature by removing it. Mistle, suspecting Ciri has trained with Geralt, asks her to share some of her life before the Rats. Ciri tells her she built a family with Geralt and Yennefer, but believes that, if they are still alive, they are better off without her.
