Discussion

[Breakfast in Beauclair stinger by MojoFilter Media]

ALYSSA (VOICEOVER): When we left off, Yennefer and Fringilla had been captured by Francesca and the elves as Geralt and Ciri had returned to Kaer Morhen, the witcher’s keep.

Transcript to come.

ALYSSA (VOICEOVER): Hey! It’s Late Night Alyssa. Looking up this character, the actress, Carmel Laniado, is credited as “Violet”, which honestly isn’t any more clear as to who this character is within the Continent or what their relation to Yennefer would be.

ALYSSA (VOICEOVER): Before we continue our discussion, we’re going to hand it over to Lars from WitcherFlix for recent news on the Netflix show. When we come back, David, Tracie, and I will continue our discussion of “Kaer Morhen”.

“Tidings from Toussaint”

LARS FROM WITCHERFLIX: Hey, it's Lars from WitcherFlix and this is "Tidings from Toussaint". Welcome back everybody! The filming for Season 3 has finally started. So let's see what the Witcher production crew was up to in the past weeks.

On March 31, The Witcher has begun filming for the new season. Near the Italian lakes of Laghi di Fusine, close to the Italian-Slovenian border, the filming has started. We know that the whole family has come together again. Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra were shooting their first scenes in Italy in the very beautiful and snowy countryside. Moreover, Netflix revealed the official logline for Season 3: "As monarchs, mages and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it. Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever."

In the first days of April, the Witcher's European filming tour continued in Slovenia. To be more precise, on their first days of filming in Slovenia the Witcher production crew was spotted near St. Jerome's church on top of the Nanos plateau in the western part of the country. After that the filming continued at the scenic Predjama Castle that is pretty close by. The spies at Redanian Intelligence spotted the three main characters and various sorceresses filming at Predjama Castle. This included Therica Wilson-Reed as Sabrina, Cassie Clare who plays Philippa Eilhart, Anna Shaffer as Triss, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Mecia Simson who is Francesca, and the new cast member Safiyya Ingar who possibly plays another sorceress. The presence of all these sorceresses including Phillipa Eilhart suggests that Predjama Castle could stand in for Montecalvo, Philippa's seat and home of the Lodge of Sorceresses.

The final stop of The Witcher's filming before heading back to Longcross Studios in the UK was the beautiful Krk Island in Croatia. Redanian Intelligence reported that Freya Allan was present during the filming at Zala Stara Baska beach. What exactly they filmed is not known, but the architecture of the set looks similar to the houses made of clay in Northern Africa, suggesting that Krk Island could be the Korath desert from the Witcher book Time of Contempt.

In other news, Netflix has finally confirmed the four directors of Season 3. First, Stephen Surjik who was already a director for Season 2 of The Witcher, is returning. He was in charge of the fan-favorite episode "A Grain of Truth". The other three directors are Gandja Monteiro (who workd on Brand New Cherry Flavor and The Chi), Loni Peristere (whose previous work include American Horror Story or Castle Rock), and last but not least Bola Ogun (who worked on shows like Raising Dion and Lucifer before).

Moreover, Redanian Intelligence reported on two new actors for Season 3. First, Jim Sturgeon will play Aplegatt, King Demawend of Aedirn's royal messenger who isn't the most important character in the adapted book Time of Contempt, but who has quite a signifcant impact on the story as a whole. Jim Sturgeon has played in productions like Young Wallander or Vigil before. The second actor who (according to Redanian Intelligence) will join the Witcher's season 3 is Sean Cernow, who has appeared in The Muskeeters, Doctors or Great Expectations. Unfortunately his role is still unknown.

Anyway guys, that's it for me for today. I hope you all stay safe and well. We'll talk again in the next episode of Breakfast in Beauclair. Until then, thanks again for listening and good luck on the path!
